TENNIS: Stourport men's A team expect a difficult season in the County Summer League Division One after losing the Grainger brothers.

Phil Newbury and Martin Bradley were also unavailable for the first home match which Stourbridge B won 5-2.

Father and son Tony and David Westhead won one match with captain Rob Tarpey and Steve Newbury taking the other.

They ended their Winter League programme with a winning home draw against Ross A.

Bradley with Newbury and Tarpey with Kev Grainger both won one match and lost one.

The Ladies As completed a successful latter part of their Winter League with three wins.

They beat Ross A 3-1 with Sally Smith with Zena Freer winning both their matches and Rhian Robinson with Carole Lewis victorious in one.

Barnt Green were well beaten 4-0 with a clean sweep for captain Hilary Hatt with Lewis and Robinson with Smith.

It was followed by a 3-1 victory over Bromsgrove A when Hatt and Lewis again won twice, Robinson and Smith once.

l Stourport have a comprehensive junior coaching programme under Cliff Brewer.

There are sessions each week on Fridays from 4pm until 5pm for ages five to nine, from 5.15pm until 6.15pm for 10 to 12-year-olds and from 6.30pm until 7.30pm for 13 to 16-year-olds.

On Sundays, the times are 9am until 10am for 13-16, 10am until 11am for five to nines and from 11.30am until 12.30pm for 10-12.

The Worcestershire Youth Games will be at the club on May 19 when 60 juniors, aged from seven to 12, are expected to take part.
