Thank you for the report 'Site safety probe to delay clean-up' (Ledbury Reporter, May 3). It explains why local government costs us all so much.
Why cannot the clean up operatives be properly trained to deal with such events. Surely council operatives could/should be trained to recognise 'broken glass, gas cylinders and hypodermic needles', shouldn't they? What happens when further hazardous items are dumped in the time between the 'safety inspection' and the 'clean up operation'?
Come on, let's get real and clear up this mess as soon as possible and spend our energy in devising ways to punish those who leave the mess.
The current lot were there for some several days. Why does it take so long for action to occur?
C Ridler, Yeoman Close Ledbury.
