Members of the Ledbury Art Society are celebrating their most successful exhibition to date, with over 1,000 visitors passing through the doors of the Burgage Hall in Church Lane, from last Saturday to Bank Holiday Tuesday.
Society co-ordinator, Mike Purkiss said: "I think we were complemented by the flower festival at St Michael and All Angels. I would say it's the best exhibition we've ever had."
The Burgage Hall was on the direct route for people walking up Church Lane to the flower festival.
The Art Society itself is thriving, with over 50 members currently on the books.
Mr Purkiss, of Preston Book Close, said: "We had a number of enquires during the exhibition, from people keen to join us."
The exhibition was organised to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee, and entrance was free.
But a raffle was held for a country landscape, which was painted by Roger Matthews, one of the society's most accomplished members.
The view was of a country scene near Pershore, and the draw generated a lot of interest.
The total amount raised was still to be calculated, but proceeds will go to the Ledbury Hospital League of Friends.
Ledbury Art Society meets at the Leadon Bank Day Centre during the winter, but runs an active outdoor painting programme during the summer. New members are always welcome. Further details on 01531 635922.
