EVERY Sunday morning we drive back into Malvern along the Guarlford Road on our way home from church. Whatever the weather or season we always think that this must be one of the most beautiful approaches to any town anywhere.
At this time of the year it is especially lovely because of the glorious flowers on the horse chestnut trees surrounded by masses of buttercups. This is something very precious that should be protected at all costs.
I suspect the suggested new road to cross the Severn at the Rhydd would mean that there would be a huge increase in traffic coming into Malvern down the Guarlford Road. This road is clearly visible from the top of the Malverns. How long would it be before it would have to be widened, spoiling both the views from the top and the unsurpassed views coming into Malvern?
Please put a stop to this plan now before it gathers momentum. It does not take long to drive from Junction 7 of the M5 or Junction 1 of the M50. Surely the saving of a few minutes is not worth the colossal expense and the severe damage to the beauty of our wonderful town?
