PLENTY of British bulldog spirit kept the Cradley Jubilee Jambo-ree in full swing, despite the rain greeting stallholders setting up on Monday morning.
Organiser Judi Creed-Newton said the day had been a great success.
"It exceeded all our expectations," she said.
"People came and supported us and we raised more than £2,000, which will be split between the church and village hall."
She described the event as "a very good exercise in working together for the benefit of the community" and said it was one of Cradley's big successes.
Two people who enjoyed themselves were Mike and Pat Ledbury, who performed music on the melodeon and drum in traditional British costume as Morning Dew, welcoming people into the churchyard at St James the Great Church, where many of the stalls were.
Stallholders Gillian Lowder and Lynn Mitchell were both braving the rain in plastic macs to sell bric-a-brac gathered from houses in the village.
Further along, the stall-lined road was a steam fair set up by the Vintage Tractor and Engine Club (West Midlands Group), where various engines were chugging and puffing away, their owners sheltering beneath umbrellas.
Cream teas were served in the village hall, with stalls providing ploughman's lunches in the church. Elsewhere were all manner of stalls and sideshows, from 'Splat the Rat' and the stocks to tombola and pony rides.
