AN intrepid Leigh Sinton resident is expecting to collect around £3,000 in sponsorship money after cycling 400 kilometres across the Peruvian Andes.
Ron Osborne was one of 54 participants who raised more than £140,000 for the National Asthma Campaign.
"The trip was fantastic," he said. "It wasn't easy cycling over 60 kilometres each day, especially with less oxygen in the air, but it was an unforgettable experience.
"We were all saddle-sore and aching after the first few days but the group spirit kept us all going and the exhilaration of the downhill sections helped!"
Although a keen runner, the 46-year-old admitted the epic ride had tested his stamina, especially as parts of it were off-road.
Mr Osborne he said the amazing scenery made up for the exhaustion and he was now thinking about taking part in a similar event in Mexico in November.
Anyone wishing to pay sponsorship or donate money to Mr Osborne, should contact him on 01684 582363 during the day.
