SUNNYSIDE School's gymnasts were in fine form when they travelled to the Independent Schools Championships in Birmingham.
Fifty-five teams from across the Midlands took part with ages ranging from five to 13. It was only the second time the Barbourne school have entered but, considering most of their competitors were younger than the age-group they were put into, they came out of the tournament well with a bronze medal.
Six-year-old Poppy Doorbar finished 18th out of 33 girls while, in the under-nine age group, Hannah Patey was 11th.
All the boys had to compete in the under-nine section and clinched a fine bronze. Six-year-old Oliver Burness finished in eighth place with a superb straddle vault over a box nearly twice his size!
Under seven girls: Georgina Bedwell, Poppy Doorbar, Lucy Henderson, Alisha Hine, Lily Older (fifth position).
Under nine girls: Charlotte Alexander, Sophia Carini-Morgan, Bobbie Lee Hine, Megan Lloyd, Hannah Patey (fifth position).
Under nine boys: Ben Alexander, Tom Badger, Oliver Burness, Connor Gorman, Rory Martyn-Smith, Miter Patel (bronze medalists).
