THE jailing of the mother of schoolgirls who played truant is said to have had a positive effect.
Patricia Amos' two children have attended school every day and have pledged to continue.
Truants across the country are also reported to be going to school because they realise what the consequences of their actions could be.
It goes to show that sometimes taking a hard stance does work.
Mrs Amos says she is now determined to make sure that Emma and Jackie attend lessons.
In a radio interview she said she deserved to be imprisoned and that the family would benefit from the experience.
She said the jail sentence made her realise she was a parent with responsibilities.
I'm sure the government, which is trying to crack down on truants, will welcome her comments.
