A FED-up granny whose daughter spent £250 replying to chain letters is warning others not to fall victim to the scam after she received similar mail.
Over the past two months, Christine Hudspith has been bombarded with chain letters asking her to send between 200 and 250 letters to names on a list with £1 inside each letter.
The letter promised £54,240 in return within 60 days.
A year ago, Mrs Hudspith's 20-year-old daughter Michelle spent £250 replying to chain letters - including the £1 gift, envelopes and stationery.
"She only received £8 back," said mum-of-three Mrs Hudspith, who has four grandchildren.
"She had to have each letter photocopied with a different name at the bottom, pay for envelopes and put money in them."
Mrs Hudspith, a packer at a Worcester factory, said she believed she had been targeted after answering an advert in a free magazine offering the chance to work from home.
She warned others not to be tempted to reply.
"On the top of the letter it said you can earn £50,000," said the 46-year-old, of Isaac Walk, St John's.
"It makes you stop and read it. Six were sent to me in a week around a month ago and I've had a few more since then.
"I've started throwing them away because I got sick of it. I'm warning other people not to get involved in the scam.
"It's very dodgy - everybody you send a letter to has your name and address on. You're not going to get your money back."
