BY way of a correction to Christopher Kingsley, Mrs R Caldwell stated that it was never indicated that our country would gradually become a Federal State, when Britain joined the Common Market (You Say, May 24).
Over the last 10 years, there has been plenty of evidence - from former Tory politicians and investigative journalists alike - revealing the government of the day knew that once the metric system, commerce, border control, currency and interest rate were brought into line, Britain would eventually become a Federal State of Europe.
I suppose the old adage of - if it looks like a duck and behaves like a duck, then it must be a duck - springs to mind.
The letter also described the present government as deceitful and manipulative. Well, Mr Blair is only putting the finishing touches to Messrs Heath, Thatcher and Majors' European membership groundwork.
