A WORCESTER pub is being restored to its former glory.

The new landlady at the West Midland Tavern, Lowesmoor, says she is "not here to play at it".

Kaff Buzza, who took over the reins in March, has big plans for the pub, which used to be the watering hole for Worcester's bus drivers.

"I've come full circle," said Miss Buzza, 40, who is being helped in her new venture by

long-term partner Simon Weaver.

"I used to drink here when I was driving the buses in Worcester. We'd knock off and come and play pool - in fact, I won my first pool trophy here."

Lorries

Miss Buzza drove lorries for nine years but decided earlier this year that she wanted to do something for herself.

She heard the Midland Tavern was looking for a new tenant and approached the owners, Inspired Inns.

"The minute I walked through the door I knew it was the right thing to do," said Miss Buzza, who has been in and out of the pub trade since she was 18.

"I thought it was about time I had a crack at it. The pub needs a lot of love and attention, but I'll do whatever it takes to build it back up."

The old skittle alley is being turned into a function room and is due to be up and running within a month. It will be available for private hire.

Other plans include a "divorced and separated" club. Players are needed for the winter football league, pool, domino and crib teams.
