A DINES Green drug addict has been jailed for breaching a rehabilitation order by shoplifting in Worcester.
Richard Hill, aged 21, stole a pair of jogging pants from a sports shop and two fluffy rabbit toys. Both offences were caught on CCTV.
Julie Rosamond, prosecuting, said Hill stole the £40 jogging pants from Bewise, in Broad Street, on Sunday, January 27.
On Sunday, February 10, he walked into Clinton Cards on the High Street and took the toy rabbits, worth £10.99 each.
"He accepted he had taken the toys and said he had given them to his girlfriend," said Miss Rosamond.
"He kept the jogging trousers for himself."
The shoplifting breached a rehabilitation order imposed last year for driving while disqualified, theft and bail act offences.
Admitted offences
Hill admitted all the offences.
He also breached his bail by not turning up for a court appearance on Tuesday, March 19.
Ian Pugh, defending, said it was obvious that his offending was caused by his £50-a-day drug habit.
"He leads a chaotic lifestyle and his offending is part of that," he said.
"If this young man is to become part of society, his drug addiction must be addressed.
"A further term of custody may keep him clean, but it won't rehabilitate him."
But Worcester magistrates disagreed yesterday and sentenced Hill, of Grenville Road, to three months in prison.
