WYRE Forest fishery Furnace Mill played host to the M N Autos and Marks Tackle two-day festival over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Day one winner, Steve Mayer (Bronx), pole fished worm and casters on Furnace pool peg 22 for a mainly Carp catch of 51-0-0. Second placed Jez Williams (Strettons) had 30-9-0; third was John Newton (Furnace Mill) with 26-2-0.
The day two winner was Tim Jones (Squirrel A C) with a pole and meat catch of 38-8-0 from Mucky Meadow pool peg 38. Ian Wood (Catshill) took 38-6-0 for second and third was Williams' (Strettons) 31-0-0.
Overall champion was Mayer with eight points and a 70-2-0 total, earning him the £220 top prize.
Williams also had eight points but had to settle for the runners-up spot with 61-9-0 and Ian Wood was third with eight points and 58-10-0.
On Bank Holiday Monday, the Ovation Leisure open at Lower Broadheath's old pool was topped by Droitwich matchman Bob McCauley (Phoenix) with a pole and meat catch of 75-0-0 from peg 25.
Runner-up was yours truly (Ovation Leisure) 65-8-0 and third went to Rob Symes (Lollipops) 49-3-0.
At Moorlands Farm the Meadow and Moors pools open was won by Neil Russell (Fosters Tipton) with 81-13-0, taken with pole and corn over pellet feed from Meadow peg five.
Bob Marklew (Fosters MG) was second, taking 79-15-0; third was Andy Newton (Lifestyle) with 69-15-0.
On Tuesday, Northfield's Starlet Veterans were at Greenhill Fishery, in Hallow, where Dave Bennett (Stourbridge) took the honours with a new national veterans record of 124-6-0 of Carp by waggler fishing corn and meat at Old pool peg 14.
Ken Giles (Alvechurch) was second with 69-8-0; Derek Buckle (Bewdley) was third with 63-6-0.
Moorlands Farm Wednesday open was held on the Meadow pool with Alan Gethin (Strettons) showing the way by pole fishing corn at peg 36 for a 78-15-0 catch.
Second was Danny Amphlet's (Moorlands) 76-7-0, third went to Rob Anthony (Moorlands) with 52-14-0.
The Thursday special Costcutter open saw Mick Henshall (Fosters MG) take a winning level 50-0-0 by pole fishing corn at Meadow pool peg 11. Second place went to Barry Garner (Barry's Boys) with 45-6-0; third was Bob Jones (Moorlands), taking 45-3-0.
The King's Heath Veterans held their event at Woodlands View's Top pools one and two and it was Alan Ryan (Worcester) who took a close verdict by pole fishing worms and casters at peg four for 33-4-0.
John Grazier (Stoke Prior) was second with 31-13-0; third was Harold Willey (Kidderminster) with 30-5-0.
Black Country canal expert Kevin Adderley (Lifestyle) won £125 for topping Sunday's Mallards open on the Staffordshire/Worcestershire Canal between Hinksford and Gothersley.
Staked just below Aston Lock, he pole fished red maggots to take five Bream to scale in 13-5-0. Runner-up was Alan Ball (Brownhills), taking two Carp on pole and caster for a level 10-0-0. Ian Hingley (Midland Match) took 9-8-0 for third place.
At Astwood fishery, the Smokey Joe's pool open was won by Redditch matchman Brian Williams (Astwood). Fishing at eight metres with pole and corn he took a 27-14-8 catch from peg 26.
Second place belonged to Alan Gibb (Astwood) with 22-13-0 and third was Tom Hamilton (Hindles Bronx) with 18-8-0.
The Moorlands Farm Meadow and Middle pools open was topped by Simon Richardson (Fosters Tipton) with 45-3-0 from Meadow peg 44.
Sean Ashby (Map Starlets) took 44-12-0 for second while third was Clayton Bagley's (Lifestyle) 36-14-0.
The first round of the Birmingham Civil Service Summer league was held on the Grand Union canal at the Herons Nest, Knowle.
Roy Blud (Birmingham) took two Skimmers plus Perch, with pole fished pinkies at peg 27, for a winning 1-7-14. Gary Booth (Catshill) followed with a close 1-7-4 and third was Eddie Matthews (Birmingham), taking 1-3-0.
At Alvechurch Fisheries, the afternoon Horseshoe pool open gave a close result, with Albert Jones (CSM) taking the verdict with a pole caster corn and meat catch of 51-15-0 from peg 13.
Second was Richard Massey (Alvechurch) with 51-13-0 while third place went to Alan Sutton (CSM) with 45-0-0.
The Furnace Mill afternoon open was held on Furnace and Mucky Meadow pools and it was Furnace peg 10 that saw the top catch of 51-6-0 for Mark Hawthorne (Spartans) who poled fished meat.
Paul Evans (Storeys) was second with 35-8-0; third was John Baker (JD Tackle) with 34-4-0.
Woodlands View's evening open saw the biggest catch of the week with Jason Smith (AOK) heading the score sheet with a huge 130-14-0 Carp haul taken with pole fished Strawberry meat from Deans pool peg 38.
Second was Mark Westwood's (Woodlands) 83-6-0, while 81-9-0 was good enough to put Chris Robson (AOK) into third.
