OLDER residents from Droitwich Spa have been lapping up sun, sea and sand in Blackpool thanks to town Rotarians.

More than 30 residents headed to the popular resort for the town's annual seaside trip.

A packed coach left Rotary House, in Corbett Avenue, last Thursday morning and the happy holidaymakers are due to return tomorrow (Thursday).

The Rotary Club of Droitwich Spa organises the annual break, with the backing of the Droitwich Spa Advertiser which promotes the trip.

For just £114 our readers are enjoying a week-long stay at a top hotel. The cost covers transport and half-board accommodation with en-suite facilities and evening entertainment.

Rotary community and vocation services committee chairman, Mike Crossley, said: "They are staying at small hotels near the centre of Blackpool which are run by caring hoteliers who come from the Midlands.

"Many people go year after year because they have such a good time," he added.

Couples, singles and residents from town nursing homes are among the group.

Mr Crossley said the break is a great way for people to make new friends.
