WATER quality in the Vale of Evesham and Broadway is to be vastly improved now Severn Trent is splashing more than £2m into its Strensham water treatment works.
The scheme is part of a huge investment throughout the Midlands to build on record levels of tap water quality, and protection for rivers and streams.
Regional water supply manager Mike Porter said: "This scheme will make sure that Strensham can meet the very high standards required of it for years to come."
The Strensham works, situated near Tewkesbury, can supply up to 36 million gallons of fresh tap water a day to people in Worcestershire and Warwickshire.
The water treatment scheme started in February and will improve tanks used to store fresh water before it enters the distribution system, improve drainage around the tanks, replace existing pipework and remove old redundant pipes. The work should be complete by May next year.
