A WORCESTERSHIRE hauliers has secured a deal with a local building materials producer, worth £15m.
Taylors of Martley, near Worcester, has been awarded a five-year contract to handle all logistics for Kingspan Insulation, in Pembridge, Herefordshire.
Kingspan Insulation is a division of Kingspan Group, one of Europe's fastest growing building materials producers, with an annual turnover of 800m euros globally.
The company makes high performance insulation products and has doubled in size in the past five years. It now employs 120 people at its Pembridge site.
Taylors of Martley is setting up a round-the-clock delivery operation based at the 17-acre Pembridge site, and is looking to recruit up to 19 new LGV drivers.
The contract will involve 40 trailers, seven rigid 17-tonne vehicles and 12 arctic units, as well as being supported by Taylors' own fleet.
"It is a big operation," said Phil Rixon, manager of the Kingspan contract at Taylors of Martley.
"For us to be based at Kingspan is the best solution for them. It is a new concept for Kinspan to have their transport company based and working actually on site.
"This is a tremendous coup for Taylors of Martley."
The contract is the latest in a long list for the family-owned transport logistics firm, which started in Martley 60 years ago and now employs 360 staff and operates around 450 vehicles.
Earlier this year it secured a three-year contract with Esterform Packaging, in Tenbury Wells, and turnover last year reached £22m with clients including Coca-Cola and MG Rover, among others.
Taylors will deliver up to 120 loads a day of Kingspan Insulation products around the country and this could grow as Kingspan grows in line with the demand for products that help reduce household emissions.
"Demand on the industry to reduce emissions is enormous and new building regulations will see Kingspan Insulation double in size as the average thickness of our insulation boards double," said Peter Wilson, managing director for Kingspan Insulation.
"This has a major impact on our transport requirements and has prompted us into a major strategy review of all our delivery needs.
"Transport is one or our biggest costs and our rate of growth is rapid, so we had to be sure our new haulier could accommodate our growth strategy."
