POLICE will step up patrols in Kidderminster, Stourport and Bewdley on Saturday to prevent a recurrence of the thuggery which marred celebrations of England's World Cup win last Friday.
One person was injured and five people arrested after the Argentina match when fighting erupted outside the Farmers Boy and inside the Penny Black pubs in the town.
A police spokesman said: "We want to reassure people who want to go shopping or enjoy Bewdley Carnival they will not experience any problems."
Extra police will be on duty during England's clash with Denmark, which kicks off at 12.30pm, through to the evening in the three towns.
In addition, pubs affiliated to the Kidderminster Licensees Association will be shut from 3pm until 5pm.
