MORE than 100 employees of a Kidderminster carpet firm still have an uncertain future after a subsidiary division was sold off.
Carpet maker Gaskell confirmed last week it had sold the Crucial Trading arm of Kidderminster-based Tomk-insons for £1.77 million.
Gaskell announced in March it intended to offload the whole company, less than three years after it bought it in September 1999.
About half Crucial Trading's workers will be relocated to new owner Headlam's Coleshill distribution centre, with the other 15 staying in Kidderminster.
Tomkinsons' remaining staff will not know their long-term fate until a buyer is found.
Gaskell, whose core business is carpet tiles and broadloom carpets, attributed the sale of Crucial Trading - which specialises in natural floorings - on a drive to refocus the company.
