LIVE wires dangling inches from the kitchen sink are among a string of hazards in a council house, a Worcester mother claims.
Delaine Ross said she has bombarded council bosses with complaints about the conditions, including smoke-blackened walls, but has been ignored.
"I've told them loads of times about the problems, but they just told me they haven't got any money," said the 37-year-old.
"I moved in here almost two years ago when the elderly woman who lived here moved out.
"I've gutted the house myself but I can't even attempt the kitchen because there are wires hanging out of the kitchen wall.
"I've told the council about the conditions since I moved in here, but all they say is that there's no funds to do any of the repairs."
Mrs Ross, who lives in the house in Canterbury Road, Ronkswood, with her six-year-old daughter Demi, said she had forked out £500 to bring the property up to scratch.
"None of the housing officers I've spoken to is prepared to do anything about the house," she added.
"All I was told when I moved is that I would have to take what I was given.
"When I got here all the ceilings upstairs were black as a result of a fire. The whole place was a disgrace.
"I had to put new skirting boards in every room and I said I wouldn't move a dog in there.
No funds
"But all they ever say is that they've got no funds."
But council bosses denied any record of logged complaints from Mrs Ross.
"Our records show that there's one piece of work outstanding which is on the back door," said Worcester City Council housing manager Iain Harkess.
"We've haven't got any reports of any dangerous electrics but we will send a surveyor to the property."
