AN enterprising night-shift worker is gearing up to cycle round Europe's second largest freshwater lake in aid of sick children.
Twenty-six-year-old Rebecca Chater, who works at a Clent children's home, has set her sights on the four-day 180-mile challenge around Lake Constance in the Alps next September.
She has to raise at least £1,500 in sponsorship for Acorns Children's Hospice Trust, which is appealing for money to build a new £4 million hospice for terminally ill children in Worcester by 2004.
"I want to get fit and I thought I'd support a local charity," said Miss Chater, of Four Acres Caravan Park, Stourport. "This combines them together.
"Hopefully I shall raise a lot more than £1,500. The more the better really."
Quiz nights and bring-and-buy sales are planned to get the cash coming in and even though the ride - which will take Miss Chater through Germany, Switzerland and Austria - is over a year away she has already started training.
"I used to be a keen cyclist and I'm trying to do an hour every other day when the weather's good," she added.
