TENNIS: Two Bewdley Tennis Club youngsters are one step nearer to playing at a famous venue after winning the town finals of the U-14s Road to Wimbledon Challenge and Club Championships.
Olly Hicks, 13, beat John Guy 6-4, 6-4 in the boys' singles final, while Fay Trezise won the girls' singles with victory over 10-year-old Chelsea Gordon.
They go through to the county play-offs on July 13 and 14 at Malvern with the aim of reaching Wimbledon in August.
Bewdley's open day attracted a great turn-out with the radar speed gun recording Jim Sylvester and Tracey Powell as having the fastest serves of the day at 94mph and 93mph respectively.
