TEWKESBURY swimmers started Jubilee week in excellent fashion at the University of Bath meeting and finished it in fine style at Swindon Link Centre.
At a high profile meeting at Bath, Tewkesbury's select group returned with eight gold medals, six silver and two bronze.
In the 17/18 age group Andrew Brookes took gold in the 50m free (25.19), gold in the 100m free (55.48) and achieved the hat-trick in the 100m fly (59.10). In the same age group, Andrew Fieldhouse took gold in the 100m backstroke in 1.04.67 but had to settle for bronze in the 200m back.
In the girls' 14/17 age group Kelly Openshaw achieved silver in the 100 (1.19.79) and 200m breast (2.52.00). Hannah Healey was fifth in the 50m free in 29.59. David Thomas (16) took a silver in the same vent in 26.03.
Pride of place went to Chris Yoxall (13) with a personal tally of eight medals with victories in the 100m breast (1.1.74) 200m breast (2.47.12), 200m medley (2.26.63) and 400m medley (5.24.63). He added silver medals in the 100m free, 100m fly and 400m free and bronze in the 200m free.
Yoxall was acting captain of the junior team that travelled to Swindon where the first two sessions involved all swimmers competing in all four sprints with the fastest six qualifying for a 200m medley championship.
Yoxall took four gold medals in the sprints and took the 200m medley gold in 2.22.64. Robin Marks (12) took two gold in the breaststroke and freestyle and bronze medals in the backstroke and fly. He added silver in the medley championship final in 2.51.17.
Leading the girls was Shevaun Pocock (13) with gold in the fly, silver in the backstroke and freestyle. She then excelled in her medley final taking the gold award in 2.44.62. Lauren Blake took bronze in 2.51.61.
Drew Leitch (14) took three silvers in his sprints but was fifth in the final. Lewis Cole (12) took two silver sprints, Ashley Dougan won two bronze medals and made it a hat-trick in the medley final.
William Gibney and Philip Bluck both won bronze medals. Jo Bentley Amy Danter, Maria Holloway and Robert Hunt also made championship finals where the freestyle relay team won another silver.
