MEMBERS of the Evesham and District Burma Star Association celebrated the 41st anniversary of the branch at a dinner at the Northwick Hotel, Evesham.
"We always try to have the dinner of the actual day, and our branch was formed on May 30, 1961," said secretary Ron Walker.
The following year, he said, the branch standard was paraded for the first time and the parade included a contingent of 38 Ghurkas, the only time members of the regiment have been on parade in Evesham.
The Evesham and District branch membership of 54 includes two nursing sisters, one from Pershore and the other from Paxford, who served in the Far East.
"We are a strong and active branch at present and hope to continue for many years to come," Mr Walker said.
