Members of Kidderminster Male Choir took their singing talents to a wider stage when, along with family and friends, they toured Australia for three weeks last month.
The 90-strong party, responding to an invitation from Sydney Male Choir, gave nine concerts, all to packed audiences, including one in Singapore on the outward journey.
The group enjoyed three concerts with the Sydney choir and supplemented these with impromptu performances on the stage of the Sydney Opera House, near the famous Harbour Bridge, Doyle's fish restaurant at Watson's Bay, on Manly's beaches and in the Botanic Gardens.
From Sydney the party went to Penrith, singing in Bathurst Cathedral and, one of the highlights of the trip, performing to an audience at the Joan Sutherland Centre when a talented young quartet, Driving Range, joined members.
The party flew to Cairns in Northern Queensland and enjoyed concerts with the Cairns Choral Society as well as making a memorable visit to the Great Barrier Reef.
The choir's president John Watkins said: "The conversation of the choir, which will celebrate its centenary in 2004, will for some time be about an outstanding adventure and we found the Australian people to be warm, extrovert and unfailingly obliging."
