EVESHAM crashed to their first Worcestershire County League defeat of the summer after being dismissed for 112 on a tricky track at Bewdley.
The second division leaders hit back after tea as Quinn Jones mesmerised the home batsmen with figures of 6-57 but, from a the depths of 46-6, Bewdley stubbornly refused to lie down and scraped home with two wickets to spare.
Skipper Jon Gregory lost a crucial toss and only Warren Irvine (16) and Simon Cadwallader (28no) managed to master a poor batting surface.
Jones did his best to preserve Evesham's proud league record as he sent down 27 overs on a day when 18 wickets fell for 225 runs made from 98 overs.
The losers remain top of the table and will be looking for a swift return to winning ways at home to Malvern Ram-blers on Saturday.
