FIDDLER on the Roof, the powerful and moving musical set in pre-revolutionary Russia, is coming to Cheltenham in July.
The show, which became famous through Topol's recording of If I Were A Rich Man from the 1971 film, revolves around the dairyman Tevye and his attempts to preserve his family's traditions in the face of a changing world.
Set in a Russian village in 1905, the show, which premiered in 1964, broke with Broadway tradition by tackling serious issues of persecution, poverty and beliefs.
It is packed with memorable numbers including Sunrise, Sunset and Matchmaker. Promenade Productions will be performing Fiddler at Cheltenham's Bacon Theatre at Dean Close School from Wednesday, July 10, to Saturday, July 13. Tickets from Showcase in Montpelier Arcade, phone 01242 224144.
