IN-FORM Kidderminster Cricket Club star Ted Baylis' pursuit of a second chance at county level has been backed by his skipper.
Opening bowler Baylis, 19, has made quite an impression in Birmingham League Division One since leaving Worcestershire's academy.
In Saturday's tight three-wicket defeat at new leaders West Bromwich Dartmouth, he scored 70 not out and took 4-40.
And Kidderminster captain Sean Lloyd believes the county should give the young ace a go in their second team.
Lloyd said: "We have given Ted the responsibility of being our main bowler and he has done very well.
"It would be nice if Worcestershire had a look at him for their second team. His attitude is good and he has developed as a player.
"Because of his age, you have to rest him after he has bowled seven overs in a spell.
"He always gets two wickets early for us but the pressure on the batsmen is released because we have to take him off.
"Ted bowls in the areas that the coaches want them to bowl at in county cricket."
Kidderminster have a home mid-table clash against Leamington on Saturday with Lloyd insisting: "Every game is winnable."
He added: "If we had enjoyed a bit more luck in the last two or three games, they could have gone either way.
"It would be nice to get a few results now and with that comes more confidence for the younger players then it takes off."
County bowler Chris Liptrot is still struggling with a back problem but Lloyd hopes he will soon be fit to return.
The National Knockout Cup fourth round tie with Walsall has been rearranged for Sunday at Chester Road after it was rained off at the weekend.
The delay does give Kidderminster the chance to field wicket-keeper Steve Davies and Gurdeep Kandola who would have missed the clash through county board duty.
Lloyd believes the town team have played some of their best cricket in the competition and he is looking for the scalp of the Premier League club.
