AN exhibition of art by members of the Royal Birm-ingham Society of Artists is on show at the Malvern Theatres this month.
Works by 16 artists have been hung in the restaurant and circle bar at the theatre complex, where they will be on show until the end of June. The works chosen are a mix of abstract, figurative and representational.
The show has been organised in association with the Cowleigh Gallery in Malvern. Gallery owner Bill Nicholls said he had been planning the event for some time.
"I've known about the society for many years. I got permission to approach their members, which I chose over a period of two years," he said.
The RBSA is one of the oldest art societies in the country, founded in 1812. It currently has 80 members and 33 associates, and holds 15 exhibitions a year.
Malvern Theatres holds around six exhibitions a year. Mr Nicholls praised it for the sheer number of visitors that it brought to artists exhibiting there.
"It's very well established, it's a lovely venue. All members are keen to get the exposure that that venue can give, there's an average of 4,000 to 5,000 people a week going through there."
Upcoming exhibitions include work from the Royal West of England Academy and Mr Nicholls said he is in talks with other prestigious groups to bring their art to Malvern.
