SEVENTEEN players from Malvern Town Wanderers U12s football team recently celebrated the Queen's Golden Jubilee in Holland.
The players and various relatives travelled to Valkenburg on the Dutch/Belgian border for a four day tour which also coincided with England's first World Cup match against Sweden.
Whilst in Holland they played in two tournaments, one at ODA FC, Weert and the other at RKVV Almania, Sittard, against Dutch, German and other English teams. The second tournament in Sittard saw the team playing one of their matches at the same time as England were playing in Japan but fortunately the match was being shown on a television in the club house so they were able to keep up to date with the score.
They also played against England and Liverpool central midfielder Steven Gerrard's old junior club, Shore Villa FC.
The boys enjoyed playing on the superb Dutch pitches and learned a lot from their European experience, which they will hopefully be able to repeat next year!
