IN Your Letters (June 7) two correspondents expressed the hope that hunting would be banned.

If cruelty to animals is the reason, and I for one do not believe the driving force behind the Labour party and those MPs who are pushing this Bill has anything whatsoever to do with cruelty, might I suggest a logical extension.

One of the cruellest animals around is the domestic cat, I would suggest that owners of such animals ought to muzzle their feline friends to prevent the indiscriminate torture and slaughter of birds and small animals. At least hounds do not play with their quarry!
