I WISH to say how much I enjoyed the magnificent flower festival at Ledbury Parish Church to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee, also to say a huge thank you to everyone involved.
The headline in last week's Ledbury Reporter (June 7) read "Spectacular festival leaves visitors stunned", which, of course, was true. The article below the headline was also most complimentary. The photographs, however, were disappointing. They had obviously been taken the day before the festival opened when none of the displays were finished. In fact, some hardly started. What a pity the photographer did not find time to take some pictures during the four days when the festival was open to the public and the flower arrangements complete.
The Maypole depicting "Lord of the Dance", when finished by the Church Flower Guild, was quite outstanding. It filled the "well" of the church in front of the west door with beauty, colour and imagination.
Thankfully the crowds of visitors who came to the festival saw the true picture. Many thanks to Judy Street, whose inspiration it was to hold the festival, and to all her helpers.

n Editor's Note: The Malvern Gazette & Ledbury Reporter has only one staff photographer and one local freelance, who each gave up their weekends to cover the more than two dozen events which featured in the newspaper and our special supplement.
This work was two months in the planning and with so much going on it was simply never going to be possible for us to be everywhere.
