A MALVERN man is looking for sponsorship for a walk along the Great Wall of China.
Paul Matheson, of West Malvern Road, is planning to walk an 80-km segment of the ancient defensive barrier in a nine-day stretch in October.
For that to happen, he needs to raise £2,250 by the end of August.
The walk has been organised to raise money for the National Star Centre, near Cheltenham, a college for people for learning difficulties, which wants to buy some new minibuses.
Mr Matheson, a nurse with the National Blood Service who is also studying at University College Worcester, said: "Apart from tuition fees, the centre has to raise all its own money, so I am glad to be able to help."
"I have never been outside of Europe before and I have never done fundraising on this scale before, so I am really looking forward to it.
"I will be very grateful for any help received. Straightforward donations are welcome, as is anything I could sell to raise money, or any fundraising ideas," he added.
West Malvern pub The Brewers Arms is already helping Mr Matheson with his fundraising efforts
After giving him room to sell books over the Jubilee weekend, the pub has arranged a quiz night to take place on Thursday, June 20.
Anyone else who would like to help can contact Mr Matheson on 01684 574261, 07973 223482 or paulmatheson@ukonline.co.uk.
