IN this home WCL Division Two fixture against Oldswinford, Worcester Nomads achieved a much needed and well-earned victory.

WORCESTER NOMADS v OLDSWINFORD

Again batting first, Nomads needed for once to put a decent total on the board, and did so, making 229 for the loss of six wickets. Simon Harris and Malcolm Jones led from the front, in an excellent opening partnership of 120, before Jones fell for 61.

Harris followed soon after for 56, but the remaining batsmen continued to keep the board ticking over, and 25 from Dixon, and 22 from Lakin, running into some form, helped the total past the 200 mark.

Nick Williams had been called up from the second XI and helped the two main strike bowlers Jinks and Wooler to make inroads into the Oldswinford batting.

Law and Attwood threatened for a while to take the game away from Nomads, making 52 and 57 respectively before falling to Lakin and Wooler.

Adey Wooler continued to bowl an excellent second spell, taking 4-19 from eight overs, two in one over featuring a fine catch from Blake Raymond.

Suddenly the game was there for Nomads to take, and Oldswinford needed to hang on for the final few overs.

It wasn't to be however, as Ian Jinks shattered Fradgeley's defence, uprooting the off stump to finish the game in style.
