BARNARDS Green played host to OEs in a game that was played in excellent spirit.
BARNARDS GREEN III v OLD ELIZABETHANS III
Jones won the toss and put OEs in to bat on a damp wicket. OE's batsmen found runs hard to come by with J Longmore (1-24) and the improving Paddock (1-19) bowling testing lines. Lamb (Snr) was unlucky to say the least not to get a wicket bowling a tidy spell of 0-16 off nine. The introduction of Gregory got the important wicket of Pullan (21) with the help of an excellent catch off Lewis (Jnr).
Gregory finishing with 4-33 off 13 it was left to Longmore (3-9) to wrap the tail end up with OEs posting a challenging 114 to win.
The Green openers Middleton (10) and Rogers Snr (26) got off to a solid start and after being 25-0 in the sixth over they slipped to 38-5 in the 18th.
Longmore Snr (10) and Gregory (16) did repair some damage before they both fell in quick succession leaving the game slipping away from the Green at 72-7.
Enter Rogers Jnr (13) and Longmore Jnr (23no) who mixed some aggressive running and some sensible batting to guide the Green near their total with Longmore hitting a lovely six over long on.
The pair put on 40 runs before Rogers fell eight runs short of the total. Paddock (2no) and Longmore saw the Green home with four overs to spare.
The Green picking up a well deserved 20 points.
