CABBIES across the city will be upping sticks tomorrow morning when plucky Race for Life runners pound the streets of Worcester.
Shoppers are being advised they can catch cabs from a temporary rank in Farrier Street until 1.30pm, when the streets will return to normal.
Taxi ranks at The Cross, Queen Street and the Lychgate will not be in operation until the thousands of runners taking part in the all-women race for Cancer Research UK have cleared.
Although the Foregate Street taxi rank is not affected by the road closures, due to be carried out at 9.30am, taxi drivers will not be able to access it.
"This temporary taxi measure will ensure city residents and visitors are still able to move around the city when the Race for Life takes place," said Julian Pugh, senior licensing and enforcement officer at the city council.
Organisers hope more than 4,000 women - double last year's number - will don their running shoes for the 5km race.
n Turn to P9 to see 22 runners gearing up for the challenge.
