IT is now obvious that developers in pursuit of commercial gain can now breach the city plan at will by adopting a very simple strategy.
They need only to identify some enabling development such as a school building or sports facility and then use their professional and financial muscle to lobby, cajole and pressurise the council to accede to their wishes.
In this way, they can soften up any planning opposition, before the submission of an application.
Oh that mere residents had such influence - then they, too, could help to cover our fields with concrete and tarmac. Perhaps the council could publish details of this wonderful new planning procedure so that we can all bend the rules.
