SEVERAL weeks ago, we heard of an Asian taxi driver who was attacked and robbed while at work.
Nothing strange in that I hear you say, hazards of the job perhaps. But no, wait! His attackers were two white men, so according to our local bobbies it was a racist attack.
On another occasion, an Asian youth was beaten and robbed in Sidbury. Sign of the times?
No, this was racially-motivated screamed police. All right, I accept this may be the case, but imagine my surprise on reading a recent edition of the Evening News that reported a young white man beaten senseless and robbed by no less than eight Asian youths. Racist attack? Not according to our local police.
No one should be abused in any way, simply because of creed, colour or religion.
But are our police seriously trying to say that only white people commit racist attacks? How many Asians attacking one white man does it take before police consider racial motivation is behind the offence?
