A SOLDIER abused a police officer in Worcester city centre.
Gavin Hannay shouted at the policeman in Angel Place after a night out on Sunday, May 19, Worcester magistrates heard.
Mark Soper, prosecuting, told the court police officers spotted Hannay with another man and two women just after midnight.
"Hannay was swearing and the officer took him to one side, but received more abuse from him, so he was detained," he said.
Drunk and disorderly
Hannay, a member of the Royal Logistics Corps based in Leycott Drive, Hereford, admitted being drunk and disorderly.
His commanding officer appearing in court to give a character reference, and said the 25-year-old's conduct had been nothing short of exemplary throughout his seven years' service.
Hannay defended himself, and apologised for his conduct.
District Judge Philip Browning fined him £150 and ordered him to pay £55 court costs.
