POLICE are warning elderly people across Worcestershire to be on the alert against bogus officials.
They said two men pretending to be from a water company approached a pensioner in Richmond Road, Bewdley, on Thursday, June 13.
They claimed they wanted to turn the water system off and entered the man's house, before he became suspicious and asked them to leave.
A similar incident occurred hours before in nearby Cleobury Mortimer, and others have been reported throughout the area.
"Elderly people should be cautious if they are approached by anyone wanting to enter their house unsolicited," said a West Mercia police spokesman.
"If you are at all unsure of their identity do not allow them to enter the house and inform the police immediately."
