FURTHER to Mark Lazenby's letter over the proposed Throckmorton Refugee site (You Say, June 5) I agree with his sentiment.
This problem will never be resolved as long as the global gap between rich and poor remains.
The problem of economic migrants is not unique to Britain either, as Europe has its fair share. In the west, would-be Latino emigrants continually try to cross the Mexican/American border into the US. Hong Kong and Australia have similar problems with economic migrants from the eastern regions.
Incidentally, when this country's building trade was stagnant - in the 80s and early 90s - a lot of British workers went to seek work over the continent.
Some of their exploits were epitomised by the television series Auf Wiedersehen Pet.
Those British workers could equally be described as economic migrants.
