WORCESTERSHIRE campaigners will be joining thousands of others from across the country in a Westminster protest to fight for some of the world's poorest people.

Droitwich Justice and Peace Group will be joining the Trade Justice Movement's Mass Lobby of Parliament to highlight the injustices of international trade, and grab the attention of the Government with what is intended to be the biggest lobby ever.

Oxfam, Christian Aid, Friends of the Earth, and the Catholic Association For Overseas Development (CAFOD), as well as other organisations will be adding their voice tomorrow outside the Houses of Parliament.

On the coach from Worcestershire will be Judith Cussen, chairman of Droitwich Justice and Peace Group, as well as other activists from the town and fellow protesters from Pershore and Bromsgrove, all who plan to lobby their MPs.

Theresa Codd, CAFOD regional organiser, said the public was already helping oppress some of the world's poorest people.

"By simply buying a paper or turning on the radio we all take part in international trade, but we don't realise how unfair it is," she said. "When you hear that people working hard only earn less than a pound a day, you realise international trade must change and work fairly for all."

She added that she did not feel the protest would be a hollow gesture, but could be the catalyst for change.

"If we take a stand and demand fairer trade rules, millions of people will be lifted out of poverty. That is something we need to tell our MPs."
