WORCESTER pensioners and the disabled were celebrating today after the city council announced its concessionary bus pass scheme would continue.
Valid passes, which entitle the elderly and disabled to lower fares, have been extended until the end of next month while negotiations with bus company First Midland Red continue.
"This extension will allow the city council, together with First Midland Red, to finalise negotiations over the coming year's scheme," said Jacki Potts, head of administration at the city council.
"We hope when the details are finalised we'll be able to provide the best package we can, while at the same time satisfying Government regulations for concessionary travel schemes."
It was hoped that the scheme would be finalised by the end of last month, but negotiations could not be concluded in time.
As soon as details of the new scheme are finalised, they will be published.
In the meantime, pass holders who would like more information should call Christine Dobson on 01905 722029.
