A WORCESTER woman hurled a takeaway at a taxi and told the driver to "go back to your own country."

Carol Howard shouted and swore at the black taxi driver in the city centre on Sunday, June 9, Worcester Magistrates Court heard yesterday.

Suzanne Llewellyn, prosecuting, told the court Howard had visited a number of pubs with her husband and two friends during the evening before calling a taxi.

Shouted

"She shouted at the driver and told him to go back to his own country," she said.

"A few moments later she threw her carry-out meal at the taxi, and swore at him again."

Howard, of Canterbury Road, Ronkswood, admitted one count of using racially-aggravated words and behaviour.

The 46-year-old defended herself in court, and told district judge David Chinnery she regretted her actions and was very sorry.

He fined her £150 and ordered her to pay £50 costs.
