A KIND-HEARTED town resident, who is no stranger to fundraising, has published a book to help others who wish to hold a charity event themselves.
Janey Hewitt, of Lickey, wrote Raising Funds: Every Penny Counts about 12 months ago after gaining inspiration from her own fundraising experience on the Parents and Teachers Association at Beaconside First and Middle School, in Hazel Road, Rubery.
Janey served on the committee for four years. Among other things, the committee has raised money to subsidise school trips, plants for the school grounds and a Jubilee party.
The book includes a menu of fundraising ideas to choose from, how to become a registered charity and the latest information from the budget 2002.
The colourful publication also includes illustrations from her nine-year-old twins Caroline and Elizabeth.
The Monument Lane householder said: "I often used to think to myself, I wish I'd known then what I know now.
"So I hope my experience will help others just starting out at the bottom of the learning curve and give them plenty of ideas of what to do."
Her 15-year-old daughter Mary, who helped with the book's computer graphics, has also taken part in many fundraising events in aid of leukaemia research.
"This book has provided me with hours of fun and enjoyment and I hope people benefit from it," Janey said.
The book, priced at £4.95, is available on mail order from L.J Hewitt, 17 Monument Lane, Lickey, Rednal, Birmingham, B45 9QQ.
