SIXTIES sensations The Searchers are set to take the Palace Theatre by storm this week.
The band started off as four kids making a few extra pounds playing small gigs around their hometown of Liverpool in 1962.
Only a year later, The Searchers found themselves top of the hit parade with Sweets For My Sweet - and the hits kept coming with Don't Throw Your Love Away, Needles And Pins, Love Potion Number Nine, Sugar And Spice and Someday We're Going To Love Again.
And they still continue to wow the crowds with the same energy and enthusiasm as when they began.
The only changes since the late 60's have been guitar and vocalist Spencer James replacing Mike Pender in 1986, and drummer Eddie Rothe taking over from Billy Adamson in 1998.
The current line up - Jon McNally, Frank Allen, Spencer James and Eddie Rothe - continues to be as successful as ever and in demand throughout the world.
The Searchers will be performing at the Alcester Street theatre on Thursday, June 20, and Friday, June 21.
The shows start at 7.30pm and tickets cost £11 or £9 (with Reddicard) from the box office on 65203 or the Tourist Information Centre, Alcester Street.
