CLOSED circuit television cameras and movement detectors could be installed at Bromsgrove District Council offices to step up security.
A police probe into security measures also found most staff don't wear identification all the time and don't challenge unaccompanied visitors.
West Mercia Police was asked to carry out a crime risk assessment of the offices in Burcot Lane and their report was due to be given to the Executive Cabinet meeting today (Wednesday).
The report recommends that staff wear proper ID badges, are encouraged by department heads to challenge visitors, told not to prop open fire doors and security doors and suggests better signs for visitors to find their way around. Alarm experts Chubb have also been called in to advise on a security system at the district council with movement detectors costing around £3,000.
John Moody, head of technical services at the council, is recommending to the Cabinet that their advice is taken and a CCTV system installed at the entrances and other key points at a cost of around £5,000.
