AN 18-year-old woman needed stitches to her head after being mugged in broad daylight on Friday.
The attack happened between noon and 12.30pm as the woman was walking home through the woods close to the Quality Hotel in Southcrest.
She got off the bus in Mount Pleasant and was walking through the woods when she passed a man who soon afterwards ran up from behind her.
The man knocked her to the ground and banged her head on the floor before fleeing with her bag containing cash, personal items and a mobile phone.
The woman managed to make her way home and was taken to the Alexandra Hospital, where she received stitches for a cut on her head.
The man was described as white, about 5ft 9ins tall and aged about 18-20.
He was wearing a blue polo shirt which had red sleeves and navy blue Adidas tracksuit bottoms with three white stripes down the side.
He had natural blond hair which was shaved to a number two and his mouth seemed to curl up at the sides.
Police have issued an efit of the man and are urging anyone with information to contact DC Mark Morton on 584888 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
