BEN Jones' best innings for Bewdley fired them to an important eight-wicket victory in just 25 overs at Worcestershire Saturday League Division Two strugglers Worcester Nomads.
Jones blasted 71 not out as the Wyre Forest side easily passed the 142 target set by Nomads.
Bewdley won the toss and inserted the home team only for the batsmen to race away at a four run an over rate.
But Mark Edwards (3-57) was not to be denied and changed the course of the match when he dismissed Matts in the 15th over with the score on 59.
Two wickets fell with the score on 71 and Mark Hudson's spin worked through the middle order as they toiled to 115-5.
Nomads lost four wickets in picking up their batting point and only a stubborn last-wicket stand took them to 142.
Bewdley had only 42 overs to reach the target due to rain but Jones took control after losing Craig Allen.
He put on 66 runs in nine overs with Paul Edwards (33) for the second wicket.
Jones was then supported in the victory canter by Mark Bennett who ended the innings with a six back over the bowler's head to bring his score to 32 not out.
Worcester 142-9, Bewdley 147-2.
Bewdley seconds had to hang on to salvage a losing draw with Nomads.
Nomads were given a great start by an impressive innings from opening bat S Medley who fell six short of his century.
Medley was supported by David Pearson but his dismissal at 140 let Bewdley back in with Andy Halkon taking 4-30.
Scott Fowler and Mike Harris bowled well but with little success.
In reply, Bewdley lost Pete Mauger early on and captain David Jones was out when going well.
Andy Hartley returned to good form until falling just short of his half-century.
A rush of wickets left David Mills running out of partners so he batted out the last 16 overs to save the day.
Worcester 239-8, Bewdley 2nds 169-9.
Bewdley Cavaliers fell to a six-wicket defeat at Old Elizabethans.
Bewdley Cavaliers 159-8,
Old Elizabethans 163-4.
