THE Kidderminster Shuttle is making the news as well as covering it this week.

For the second year running the district's number one newspaper finished runner-up in its company awards.

The Shuttle, part of the Newsquest Media Group comprising more than 300 newspapers across the country, was pipped to the post by the Bromley News Shopper in the category for best free newspaper.

It was a repeat result from 2001 when the Kent paper, which regularly publishes more than 200 pages a week, scooped the top award.

Shuttle editor Clive Joyce said: "We have shown over the last couple of years that we can reach high standards and, more importantly, maintain them.

"Our success is a testimony to the skills of staff in all departments. Newsquest is the biggest publisher of newspapers in England and Wales with 10.6 million copies distributed every week and we are delighted our efforts have been recognised."
