I WAS dismayed at your front page reporting of the England Fans 'Celebrations' in Port Street last week.

I enjoy participating and supporting many different sports, including football, and am overjoyed that England are progressing so well in the World Cup Finals, but why is it that a small minority of football fans can spoil other supporters' celebrations?

I was driving down Port Street at 3.30pm on the afternoon of the victory of England over Argentina, and was subjected to the compulsory 'driving under the Union Jack' and 'tooting of horns', which I considered to be a bit of fun. What I didn't feel was a joke, was the opening of my car doors and then both my car and myself being sprayed with beer by those 'flag waving fans'.

As somebody that was born and grew up in the Evesham area, I am disappointed to think I should have to lock my doors when driving down Port Street on a Friday afternoon. These over zealous celebrations tarnish football and its followers, to the disappointment of ordinary folk. That is not what Evesham Expects!
